Partnership

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the International Communications Consultancy Organisation (ICCO) have partnered to take on the climate crisis and address persistent communications challenges.

  • UNDP is the largest UN agency leading the fight against climate change, with 6,000 projects across 170 countries.
  • ICCO is a global federation of PR membership bodies, representing over 3,000 consultancies across 82 countries.

Together, UNDP and ICCO created the Climate Comms Taskforce (CCT). The Taskforce develops communications strategies for UNDP campaigns and helps activate them in global media markets with the support of Activation Partners.

Impact in Action

The United Nations Development Programme, in collaboration with the World Meteorological Organization and The Weather Company has launched the “Weather Kids” campaign. This innovative campaign features children meteorologists forecasting the 2050 weather using 2023 reports by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the UNDP Climate Horizons and with a scenario of a 1.5 to 2°C increase in temperatures.

The campaign highlights the catastrophic consequences of global inaction on climate change and emphasizes the impact on future generations.

It aims to galvanize people across the globe for urgent climate action as it is not too late and we believe we can still reverse this, aligning with UNDP’s mission and mandate and the UNDP Climate Promise.

“Our flagship project, Weather Kids, brings the climate crisis to life through the eyes of children. By reframing climate communication in an engaging and emotional way, the campaign has reached global audiences and driven powerful conversations about the urgency of action.”
